El exmandatario venezolano Nicolás Maduro fue trasladado la mañana de este lunes en helicóptero y bajo estricta custodia de la Administración para el Control de Drogas (DEA), como parte del operativo de seguridad previo a su comparecencia ante una corte federal en Estados Unidos.
Las imágenes difundidas durante las primeras horas del día muestran a Maduro con uniforme de preso y esposado, escoltado por agentes federales armados durante su traslado hacia el tribunal donde enfrentará cargos relacionados con narcotráfico y conspiración criminal. El operativo incluyó un amplio despliegue de seguridad aérea y terrestre.
Junto a él también fue trasladada su esposa, Cilia Flores, quien igualmente permanece bajo custodia federal. Ambos se dirigen a una audiencia programada para este mediodía, en la que escucharán formalmente los cargos que les imputa la fiscalía estadounidense.
De acuerdo con fuentes judiciales, la comparecencia se realizará ante una Corte Federal de Nueva York, como parte del proceso legal que se abrió tras la detención del exmandatario venezolano durante el fin de semana. En esta etapa inicial, el tribunal abordará aspectos procesales y de custodia.
El traslado y las imágenes difundidas han generado un fuerte impacto internacional, al tratarse de un hecho sin precedentes recientes: un exjefe de Estado latinoamericano compareciendo ante la justicia estadounidense bajo custodia directa de agencias federales.
